The center seeks to be an urban community space that would serve as a community gathering space, providing teaching, and learning opportunities that revolve around sustainable urban food systems, food safety, pre-harvest, growing, and postharvest techniques, economic development and youth development.

The Tuskegee University Urban Agriculture & Innovation Center is found in the historic Peacock Tract Community of Montgomery. As part of Tuskegee University’s Cooperative Extension Programs mission to serve limited resourced families with research-based educational programs as well as feedback from community dialogues, the site was established to address the existing food security while partnering with the City of Montgomery, 21 Dreams Arts & Culture amongst other local partners within the community.

The center currently houses 4 shipping containers, one of which has been repurposed into solar powered office space, raised beds, and grow bags. There are plans to highlight innovations in urban agriculture such as vertical hydroponics in the immediate future.
