The High School Level CISC Summer Experience Internship is a paid career readiness and workforce development initiative. Its primary focus is to increase the number of socially and politically aware federal employees, financially astute agricultural/food/fiber entrepreneurs, agriculturally conscious activists and policy advocates.
To achieve these goals, students engage with various Agricultural professions and sustainability specialties during an eight-week program running from early June through late July. Interns are assigned to farmers, agricultural specialists, cooperative extension agents, community-based organizations, or other relevant professionals. This hands-on experience allows participants to learn about innovative techniques, practices, and courses relevant to sustainable development. The Tuskegee University Carver Integrated Sustainability Center (CISC) is now accepting applications for the June 2nd – July 25th, 2025, Summer Internship Experience Program for High School Students. This 8-week program provides interns with practical experience in a range of specialties, depending on their assignments. Study locations and opportunities include:
- Urban Agriculture
- Operation and Management of Farmers Markets
- Youth Development
- Cooperative Extension Activities related to Agricultural & Natural Resources (ANR) and Food & Consumer Sciences (FCS)
Summer interns will work under the guidance of Tuskegee University faculty and staff with expertise aligned to their professional interests. Participants are also expected to attend afternoon virtual program discussion sessions and presentations led by agricultural business professionals, representatives from federal agencies, and Tuskegee University faculty and staff.
